PALS offers an outreach program of Handyman Service for those in the community who need a helping hand. We have 3 retired men who have been doing handyman type jobs as a hobby (at least not their primary job) for many years. The goal is to provide help to Senior homeowners for minor repairs/installations. Most professionals are not interested in such minor jobs except at higher than expected costs. HandyPals charges $10 per job which goes to the Handypal volunteer to cover his transportation and tools. Any supplies are furnished by the homeowner. Jobs requiring more extensive work may be accepted by the handypal if he feels competent in doing the work and a price is agreed. Examples of work done are as follows:

Change Light fixtures
Replace electric outlets/switches
Repair Lamps
Minor repairs to cabinets/furniture/etc.
Repair leaking faucets

Repair leaking toilet tanks
Install Window blinds
Hang/Rehang closet doors

Change locks
Replace window pane
Install shelves

All materials are paid for by the owner

HANDY PALS WILL NOT:
(1) Work on Roofs (2) Work on Large Appliances (3) Work in apartments
(4) Multi-story houses (5) Paint

ELIGIBILITY TO RECEIVE SERVICES: (1) over 50 years of age (2) live in Sandy
Springs, Dunwoody or Norcross (3) own home (4) home owners liability insurance, and
(5) willing to sign release.

COST: $10.00 Covers cost of gas and tools. Cost of extensive repairs will be negotiated
with homeowner.

TO REQUEST SERVICE: Call PALS Office at 770-698-0801. When answered by the
answering machine, listen to the message and press 3 on your phone pad. Please leave
your name, phone number, and a brief description of the problem. The HANDY PALS
volunteer will call you for the details. Work will begin on a mutually agreed schedule.

Keep in mind that Handypals is not an emergency service,
even though prompt response is another goal.
